2021 MSA (Sunnyfield Road and Langewood Drive) Street Improvement Project

The 2021 MSA Street Improvement Project, City Project 01-21 was initiated by the City Council at their September 21, 2020 regular City Council meeting. Improvements proposed for construction in 2021 include:

  • Full Depth Reclamation (FDR) of Sunnyfield Road from Langewood Drive to the west end of the paved section,
  • Mill and Overlay of Langewood Drive,
  • Repaving the trail on the south side of Sunnyfield Road, and
  • Miscellaneous utility improvements, including installation or replacement of storm sewer and installation of inflow and infiltration (I&I) barriers in the sanitary sewer manholes along Langewood Drive.

Project Update July 14, 2021

The contractor is scheduled to start setting up traffic control and erosion/sediment control on July 15. Work on the storm sewer is expected to begin on July 21 and will take about 3 days to complete. Road work on Sunnyfield Road is scheduled to begin on July 26, with curb work on Sunnyfield Road and Langewood Drive to take place the first week of August. Paving on both roads is expected to take place August 13 and 14. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and is subject to change.

Sunnyfield Road and Langewood Drive will remain open to traffic during the project, however motorists may be delayed as crews perform work within the corridor. Please travel with care to keep yourself, other motorists, and the construction crews safe.

            Project Update June 14, 2021

The Minnehaha Creek Watershed District (MCWD) is reviewing permit application #21-270 for conformance with District rules. The City of Minnetrista is proposing a road reconstruction project along Sunnyfield Road. The MCWD reviews this project under our Erosion Control, Wetland Protection, and Waterbody Crossings and Structures rules. The Waterbody Crossings and Structures rule is applicable due to proposed culvert replacements that will come into contact with the edge of a wetland. As proposed, the project will not negatively impact water quality or hydraulic capacity, and a wetland buffer will be established within the right-of-way.

Contact Erin Manlick with questions or concerns regarding the permit at emanlick@minnehahacreek.org.

Permits are reviewed by staff for conformance with District rules. Interested parties may request that the permit be considered by the Board of Managers. Requests for Board consideration must be submitted to Erin Manlick via email prior to 4:30PM, June 25, 2021.
