City Sewer & Water

WHAT IS THAT PIPE STICKING OUT OF MY YARD?

The pipe you are seeing is the City curb stop. A curb stop is the the on-off valve that the City has installed outside of your home and where the water will be turned off in the event of a plumbing emergency inside your home.

Protect your curb stop!

A curb stop that is not protected from accumulation of dirt, snow, and debris can become inoperable. If the curb stop in your yard is “sticking up”, please  DO NOT  hit it with hammer to pound it down as this can damage the curb stop and cause a leak. If a leak is caused, your yard will have to be dug up so that repairs can  be made!

If your curb stop needs lowering, or you would like to know its location and workability, please contact the City of Minnetrista at 952-446-1660 and the City Utility Department will come out and check/lower the curb stop at no charge to the property owner.
