Candidate Information (Municipal Offices)
The following municipal offices will appear on the November 2020 General Election ballot:
- Mayoral position with a 4 year term beginning January 2021 and ending December 2024
- Two City Council Member at large positions with a 4 year term beginning January 2021 and ending December 2024
Filing for municipal office begins on July 28, 2020 and closes at 5:00 pm on August 11, 2020. The withdrawal period will close at 5:00 pm on August 13, 2020.

Filing for office is how you get your name on a ballot.
To file for municipal office and submit your affidavit of candidacy, please schedule an appointment with Election Administrator Kris Linquist at klinquist@ci.minnetrista.mn.us, 612-968-7253 (cell) or 952-241-2528 (office) to set up a time to complete all the necessary documents, pay the filing fee, notarize the affidavit, and receive the candidate filing packet.

2020 Blank Campaign Financial Report
Financial and Other Reporting Requirements for Candidates
- Initial report is due within fourteen (14) days of receiving contributions or making disbursements of more than $750.
- Subsequent reports are due ten (10) days before and thirty (30) days after the election and each year by January 31st until a final report is filed.
- Final report is due when all debts are settled and all assets are properly disposed of in excess of $100.
