Mayor's Message-November 2022
Greetings,
The Council met on November 14th and one of the primary agenda items was to canvas (approve) the results of the local election. We had two open Council Seats with four candidates running. Peter Vickery received the most votes with 1,936 and Claudia Lacy came in second with 1,588 votes.
Congratulations to these new Council Members elect! They will be sworn in at the first Council meeting of 2023, January 9th. Prior to our meeting we will host a “Welcome Open House.” Please join us in congratulating these new City Councilmembers. They will serve a four-year term beginning January 2023 through December 2026.
I would like to thank outgoing Councilmembers Pam Mortenson and John Tschumperlin for their years of service to our community. Council Member Mortenson served two terms (8 years) and Council Member Tschumperlin served one term (4 years, plus 8 months appointed for the remainder of a previous council member’s term). We will hold an open house on December 5th at 6:30 prior to our regular Council meeting. Please join us to thank them for their dedication to the community and to wish them well.
We are still seeking volunteers to serve on our Planning and Parks Commissions. If you are interested, please call visit the City’s website to complete an application: https://www.cityofminnetrista.com/CommissionerApplication . The Council will be making these appointments at our meeting on December 5th.
City Hall will be closed Thursday, November 24th & November 25th for Thanksgiving and December 23rd, December 26th & January 2nd for the holidays.
Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays!
Your Mayor,
