Happy New Year! Hopefully you had a wonderful holiday season and have gotten off to a good start in 2020.
Welcome to my "premier" Mayor's Blog. Glad you're interested. I'll be blogging about issues that the Council has discussed and issues that may be of interest to you. This is just one of the many ways I am reaching out to Minnetrista residents.
One of the most important initiatives I wanted to undertake when I was elected Mayor in 2014 and re-elected in 2016 was to increase the communications between City Hall and residents.
Previous Mayor's provided a Mayor's Message in the Minnetrista Messenger, participated in National Night Out, and visited with those attending Trista Day each May. I have continued those traditions, but wanted to find new and different avenues to help make connections with residents.
Communication initiatives were added such as updating our City webpage (www.cityofminnetrista.com), adding social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, and adding email blasts and "Council's Corner" to our website. All of these provide additional ways for residents to know what is going on in our City government and provide transparency on numerous topics that may impact your lives. If you haven't joined us on Facebook, Twitter, or signed up for our email alerts, please do so by visiting www.cityofminnetrista.com/newsletters. It's easy and is just another way for you to stay informed.
The two other "face-to-face" events I personally initiated are the annual City Bus Tour and the annual State of the City Address. These began about four years ago, and have been fun and very successful in connecting with residents and informing them on what's going on in our City. Information about both of these events will be forthcoming in early 2020.
Some of the future subjects I'll be blogging about are: City finances, road and infrastructure projects, public safety (both police and fire), developments within the City, recreational amenities and more.
With this Mayor's Blog I hope to share my thoughts with you about all the positive things happening in our City, so please check back when you can!
