National Night Out Event Cancelled for 2020 Due to COVID-19
The Minnetrista Police Department has cancelled our National Night Out event for 2020. It was originally scheduled for Tuesday, August 4th and was postponed until October 6th due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
With the current situation continuing into the foreseeable future, we feel this is the best decision for the safety of our staff and the community alike.
We hope to see you at National Night Out next year on Tuesday, August 3, 2021.
Minnetrista & St. Bonifacius residents participate in National Night Out. This national event focuses on neighbors uniting against crime. It is held in a social atmosphere in neighborhoods where citizens gather and get to know each other as well as their local police officers. Minnetrista and St. Bonifacius had a record 23 neighborhoods participate in 2019. The Minnetrista Public Safety Department, Mound & St. Boni Fire Departments, and McGruff the Crime Fighting Dog attended many of the gatherings and provided Crime Prevention tips and goodies for the kids.
Watch groups are a great way for neighbors to meet one another as well as police officers. The Minnetrista Police Department is always looking for new neighborhoods to participate in the Neighborhood Watch program and also in National Night Out. If you would like to be a neighborhood captain or co-captain, call the Police Department at 952-446-1131 for information.
