Can my dog or animal run at large off my property?

No, animals may not be off leash or run at large off your property.

If my dog or animal is making noise which can be heard outside the building or premises, is that a disturbing the peace noise violation?

Yes, any animal making noise that can be heard outside of the building or premise can be considered a noise violation and be subject to applicable fines.

If my dog or animal is violating an ordinance, can it be impounded?

Yes, animals in violation of City ordinances can be impounded at the owner's expense.

What are the fines for ordinance violations?

Ordinance violations are misdemeanors with a maximum penalty of $700 and/or 90 days in jail.  Remember, some children find animals very intimidating and being chased by an animal adds to their fear. Please follow the rules and be a good neighbor. 

What is the leash law in Minnetrista?

The leash law in Minnetrista states: On and off your property the animal must be obedient to that person's command or controlled by a leash not exceeding 6 feet in the presence of others. Your animal may not wander onto private property.

When walking my dog or animal, must I clean up and dispose of feces in a sanitary manner?

Yes, owners must clean up after their pets and dispose of waste properly. Any waste not taken care of may result in a fine.

Will I be responsible for the impound fees?

Yes, owners are responsible for all impound fees and any fines.
