Position Details:

  • 2024 pay range is $77,224.30-$109,742.35 depending on qualifications (see 2024-2026 union contract in the attachment below.) A signing incentive up to $6,000 will be considered for lateral candidates
  • Candidates with experience will enter laterally into our pay schedule.

  • Longevity pay begins after 5 years’ experience.
  • Lateral vacation leave accrual will be considered for applicants with experience.
  • The Department operates on a trimester bid schedule to allow officers different shifts throughout the year.

Department Summary

  • Minnetrista's Public Safety Department is greatly supported by our elected officials and community of nearly 11,000 residents. The department consists of 20 employees: Chief of Police, Lieutenant, two Sergeants, eleven officers, two Community Service Officers, and two Administrative Assistants
  • The department covers over nearly 30 square miles.
  • There are opportunities to grow in the department and enhance your career with special assignments such as; SWAT team assignments, Drug Task Force agent, Investigations, School Resource Officer, Defensive Tactics Officer, Field Training Officer, Firearms Instructor, and opportunities for promotion. Special assignments are eligible for additional pay.
  • The schedule allows for two weekends off per month to promote a healthy work life balance.
  • The average years of service for officers with Minnetrista's Public Safety Department is 13 years. The Department prides itself in retaining quality employees.

Minimum Qualifications:  Applicants must be MN POST Board licensed or eligible to be licensed by the application deadline. Minimum qualifications include an AA or AS degree in law enforcement from an accredited college or university and a valid MN driver’s license with an excellent driving record. Applicants must be able to successfully pass psychological, medical, and background checks prior to hire.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree; work experience as a Community Service Officer or Police Officer. Lateral entry will be honored for experienced applicants.
